FAQs

What types of classes do you offer?

I teach mathematics at the middle and high school level--so I cover anywhere from around 5th grade all the way through to Calculus.

I offer 3 different ways that students can learn from me:

LIVE Group Class

Private One-on-One Class

FLEX Class

My LIVE Group class is a small class that meets 2 or 4 days each week and contains no more than 6 students. It is multi-age and multi-subject so all levels of students are together. This is my number one recommended class for both fun and effective learning.

My Private Class is exactly like Private Tutoring except students can choose either tutoring for their own math class or to learn their math with my curriculum.

My FLEX Class has all the same great features of my lessons, my curriculum, and my guidance but is done through videos on your own schedule.

How can you teach all levels at once?

Over many years, I found that when I private tutor a single student I have lots of free time between giving a lesson and watching a student practice problems. To help parents receive the same quality instruction that One-on-One offers, but at a more affordable rate, I started grouping together 2 students and letting parents split the cost. I found that I could teach 3, 4, 5, and eventually 6 all at once making my LIVE classes very affordable but still very similar to private tutoring.

After years of doing this, I see many benefits. The younger students get to see lessons and hear older students fearlessly tackling challenging problems and confidently asking me questions. Older students also have no problem disagreeing with me! So the younger students learn to advocate for their own knowledge.

The older students get to see the younger student's lessons. When it's something they don't quite remember, it's a way of refreshing and spiraling without feeling the pressure of admitting you don't remember something easy.

Together the students create a fantastic, social, learning group that is so much fun and brings me so much joy I can't imagine doing it any other way.

LIVE classes are outside of my budget, what can I do?

I can't tell you enough how much I understand this issue. Whether you are on a Homeschool Budget or a Charter School budget, it's sometimes difficult to afford a daily, year-round math course for your child.

I have a few solutions:

1. My LIVE class runs either four days a week or two days a week. If you receive Voucher, Charter School, or District money you can use that money first and then supplement to enroll in the four-day option.

2. If you cannot supplement, the two-day option can still work!! All of my students have access to my FLEX videos. This means that twice a week, I would LIVE teach your student and if desired, I can assign videos for the days in between. When they have questions, they can bring them to LIVE class.

3. My FLEX Class is the most affordable option of all three. Students received daily videos, daily assignments, and lots of guidance but complete the work on their own schedule.

How does a FLEX class work?

A FLEX Class does not meet with me in a live setting. Instead, assignments are given using video lessons and students can complete the work on their own schedule. Flex Class offers an affordable, flexible option for students that are more independent or have parental support during their learning.

FLEX does not mean lower quality instruction! My lessons in the videos are identical to the lessons I give LIVE. They receive the same curriculum, same assignments, and same pace of work they would LIVE.

More importantly, students are never left on their own! I check in with students every single day--grading and giving feedback, assigning the next body of work, answering questions, AND recording personalized videos in response to more challenging questions.

I am not here to sell a product to you; I'm here to guide your child into loving mathematics and feeling successful no matter which format you choose.
